TransGas has programs in place to construct, monitor and inspect transmission pipelines to ensure they operate safely and reliably.
The material selection for the pipeline consists of externally-coated, high-quality steel pipe, and all girth welds will be inspected using x-ray technology.
Once the pipeline is constructed and in-service, cathodic protection is maintained to prevent corrosion, and annual system integrity and maintenance programs are executed to further evaluate the pipeline’s condition. In addition, aerial patrols monitor the right-of-way and construction activity taking place in close proximity. Assessments of the pipeline condition are performed regularly to ensure the continued safety of the system, this includes: in-line inspections of the pipeline; above ground surveys; and direct inspections.
